Fall River Police arrest city man after woman is shot
A Fall River man has been arrested after allegedly shooting a woman.
According to Captain Jay Huard, on April 15th, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Officers responded to an apartment at Sunset Hill regarding a gunshot victim. Officers found the victim in a vehicle attempting to leave the scene. Huard stated that the woman had a gunshot wound to her left inner thigh above the knee.
Rescue transported the victim to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment. The injury was deemed to be non-life threatening.
55-year-old Timothy Coakley, who resided at the apartment at Sunset Hill, was then arrested and charged with the shooting.
Major Crimes detectives responded to the scene and a search warrant was later secured for the apartment. A Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver was recovered in the victim’s bedroom with defaced serial numbers.
Coakley was charged with Assault & Battery by Discharging a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm, Discharging of a Firearm within 500 feet of a Building, Possession of Ammunition, and Possession of a Firearm with Defaced Numbers.
