Fall River Police arrest 24-year-old suspect after man shot in both legs

Fall River Police have arrested a suspect after a previous city shooting.

According to Det. Sergeant Moses Pereira, at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Friday, October 6th, units responded to the 500 block of Rodman Street in response to a report of shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers located a 55-year-old victim who had sustained gunshot injuries to each of his legs. After speaking with the victim, officers were able to determine the location of where the incident occurred. As a result, several shell casings were recovered.

The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The case was assigned to the Major Crimes Division for investigation. Through his investigation, Detective Adam Talbot was able to identify 24-year-old, Deandre Haskett, as the individual responsible for the shooting.

Haskett was arrested on October 18th by members of the Special Operations Division, with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section.

He is charged with assault and battery with a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license to carry, carrying a loaded firearm without a license to carry, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, and vandalism.

Pereira stated that a mugshot could not be released due to the ongoing investigation.
