Fall River music students, Taunton non-profit founder, appear on Kelly Clarkson Show

Some Fall River music students got a taste of the small screen on Monday.

Taunton’s Jonathan Jacobs appeared on the Kelly Clarkson Show to talk about his non-profit organization, Rawkstars.

Rawkstars is about teaching confidence, self-esteem, discipline, accountability, hard work and leadership to young people through music, often at no charge.

How the program works is a young person from the New England area picks an instrument they want to play which is provided by Rawkstars. Then lessons are scheduled at a location close to the participant.

If approved, students receive a Rawkstars scholarship and don’t pay anything as long as they continue to show passion and attend the scheduled music lessons.

Rawkstars also promotes and produces performance events. They even support a music and arts curriculum for young, incarcerated adults.

TJ’s Music on South Main Street in Fall River, which hosts the lessons through the Fall River Arts Academy directed by TJ Salpietro, appeared on the show through Zoom, showcasing a group of students that are taking part in the program.

Clarkson gave Jacobs a $5,000 donation to Rawkstars.
