Despite being deemed dangerous, a judge has released a Fall River mother accused of abusing her child.

According to WPRI 12, a judge deemed Thaysa Gagne, 21, dangerous but chose to release her due to the conditions of her release.

Gagne has been ordered to have no contact with her daughter.

According to Detective John Robinson, Fall River Police Department detectives responded to a RI hospital the evening of June 4th at the request of doctors, who reported child abuse.

The attending physician told Det. Cabeceiras that the infant’s injuries were the most severe of that type she had ever treated, saying, “In my twenty years of doing this, this is the worst I’ve seen,”

Gagne was charged with assault and battery of a child causing serious bodily injury, wanton or reckless endangerment of a child and witness intimidation.

Gagne stated that she accidentally injured her daughter and waited because of fear that DCF would take her daughter away.

Gagne next scheduled court date is August 13th.
