Fall River man seriously injured in motorcycle crash, fundraiser organized
A Fall River man suffered serious injuries after a recent motorcycle crash and a fundraiser has been organized to help the family with expenses.
According to Lieutenant Antonio Elumba, on Sunday, Fall River Police personnel responded to the area of Robeson and Delcar Streets in regard to a motorcycle crash with injuries.
Upon their arrival, they observed and attended to an individual in the roadway with apparent serious injuries. A heavily damaged motorcycle was also observed nearby.
Fall River Medical Rescue personnel also responded to the scene. The injured person was transported to Charlton Memorial Hospital for treatment, and subsequently transferred to St. Luke’s Hospital for additional care.
A witness told Fall River Reporter that a large group of approximately 50 bikes, quads, and cars were moving south on Robeson Street between 4 and 4:30 p.m. and in talking to some from the group learned that they were coming from an event and had apparently traveled north on Route 24, took exit 6 onto Highland Avenue and continued onto Robeson.
The witness stated that the injured legal rider suffered a serious head injury. He did not know the exact cause of the crash but was concerned about the commotion that took place before and after.
“It was mayhem even before the crash and worse afterwards.”
The witness also expressed concerns with the large amount of unregistered and illegal vehicles patrolling the area without repercussions.
Fall River Police did not confirm the witness account and it is unclear if any of the riders in the group were doing so illegally.
Reporter asked for an account from someone involved with the group of riders and did not receive a response.
A charity ride-out is being organized for the victim, Eddie Silva, and his family. Due to the severity of his injuries, the family can use financial support. The ride-out will take place on November 5th at 2:00 p.m. at the Kennedy Park Pavillion. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased through Krystal Dupras.
An investigation into the facts and circumstances of the crash is ongoing by FRPD Uniform Division, with Accident Reconstruction, Major Crimes, and Crime Scene personnel assisting.

The FRPD has their hands full. The laws the Democrats allow does not give them the tools they need to keep us safe.
