Fall River Police made an arrest late last week concerning a reported violent incident.
According to Lieutenant Matthew Mendes, on Friday, at just before 8:45 a.m., members of the Patrol Bureau responded to the area of Fourth Street to investigate a report of a man who had been assaulted and was covered in blood. The victim reported that he had lost his cell phone and while walking in the vicinity of Kam’s Food Mart, one of his AirPods connected to his phone. The victim stated he began audibly asking his phone to call 911, so an officer could respond and possibly assist him in locating it.
At that time, a man approached the victim and questioned why he was calling 911. The suspect then took the victim’s bag. When the victim confronted the suspect, the suspect reportedly began violently assaulting him, beating him and striking him in the head with a rock.
Officer Jen DeLeon conducted a further investigation into the incident, which resulted in the suspect being identification as Justin St. Pierre. He was located and taken into custody a short time later.
St. Pierre was charged with Robbery, Armed | A&B With Dangerous Weapon (Rock) | Assault W/Dangerous Weapon | A&B | Threat To Commit Crime.
He was arraigned Tuesday in Fall River District Court where he pled not guilty and was being held on $10,000 surety bond or $1,000 cash.
A pretrial hearing is scheduled for October 8th.
