Fall River man granted bail in Superior Court after dangerousness hearing on drug trafficking charge

A Fall River man facing a drug charge was granted bail Wednesday morning in Superior Court.

According to Fall River Police, on June 10th, a joint narcotics investigation led to the arrest of a suspect and the seizure of a significant quantity of illegal drugs.

As a result of the investigation, authorities seized approximately one kilogram of cocaine.

48-year-old Manuel Cardoso was taken into custody and charged with Trafficking in Cocaine, 200 Grams or More.

According to court records, at a June 11th arraignment in Fall River District Court, Cardoso pled not guilty and was held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.

Court records show that on September 4th, he was indicted in Fall River Superior Court.

On Wednesday, Cardoso pled not guilty at arraignment in Fall River Superior Court. A dangerousness hearing was also held and Cardoso had bail set at $150,000 surety, $15,000 cash with GPS monitoring.

His next scheduled court appearance is a pre-trial conference on November 24th.

The lead investigator in the case was Task Force Officer Edmond Desmarais.

The operation was conducted through a coordinated effort involving the Fall River Police Department’s Community Action and Suppression Team, FRPD Drone Unit, the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, Massachusetts State Police, Westport Police Department, and the United States Postal Inspection Service.
