Fall River man facing 15 charges after fleeing from police, driving on bike paths
A Fall River man has been arrested after reportedly fleeing from police and putting others in danger.
According to Massachusetts State Police, on Monday at approximately 2:30 p.m., a trooper assigned to Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police attempted to stop a motor vehicle on Day Boulevard in South Boston. The silver Chevrolet Malibu was observed travelling at a high rate of speed and weaving into oncoming lanes. The vehicle then entered the parking area for Castle Island and continued driving on the bike paths surrounding Fort Independence for some time.
The operator, identified as Jovan Brown, 37, of Fall River, eventually stopped the vehicle and walked away talking on a cellular telephone. Brown was able to be placed into custody without further incident.
Brown will appear in South Boston District Court on the charges of Fugitive from Justice on Court Warrant, Fail to Stop For Police, Assault With A Dangerous Weapon, Reckless Endangerment of Children, Assault to Intimidate, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Assault to Commit Felony, Disturbing the Peace, Trespass with a Motor Vehicle, Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Speeding, Passing Violation, Marked Lanes Violation, and Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
