Fall River man arrested on felony assault charges Sunday
Portsmouth Police arrested a Fall River man Sunday after a disturbance call in their town.
According to Detective Lieutenant Michael C. Arnold, on Sunday September 9th at 11:24 a.m., Officers responded to Greenleaf Compassion Center on West Main Road for a disturbance between two male parties. One of the parties reportedly had brandished a knife during the disturbance. Upon arrival, the suspect, Calvin Zeigler, had left the scene and was eventually stopped in Middletown.
According to witnesses, the suspect got into an argument with another male party and had displayed the knife and threatened him during the altercation. Information was also received that Ziegler had also displayed a gun. During the traffic stop in Middletown, a BB gun and knife were found in his possession. He was placed under arrest based on witness statements.
Zeigler, 34, of 72 Bowers Street in Fall River, was charged with Felony Assault/Dangerous Weapon or Substance.
The investigation is still ongoing.
