Police have arrested a local man after a rash of area car break-ins.

According to Detective Sergeant Bryan McCarthy, On Sunday morning, just after 3:00 a.m., a resident from Lighthouse Lane called 911 to report a car alarm was sounding and the resident observed a male breaking into a vehicle in the driveway.

Westport’s cruisers were unavailable to respond at the time due to prior calls for service. Dartmouth Police were called to assist with mutual aid, and they set up a perimeter around the neighborhood.

While canvassing the area, a Dartmouth Officer observed a male walking a power washer down a driveway. Upon seeing the cruiser, the male left the power washer and fled into the wood line. Westport Officers arrived and were able to obtain video surveillance and gave a description of the suspect. Approximately forty-five minutes later Dartmouth Officers observed the suspect on Spinnaker Way and took him into custody.

Westport Detectives were called out and processed over thirteen vehicles for potential evidence. Some surveillance footage has already been obtained and police ask if you captured the suspect on your camera to please call Westport Detectives.

David Oliveira 47, of Fall River, was transported to the police station where he was booked on Breaking and Entering charges.

I’m sure he has a lengthy criminal record already and the state’s DA’s will slap his wrist again and he’ll be out robbing from more law abiding citizens in no time. This state sucks! It sucks for working class , law abiding citizens just trying to get by and anyone who keeps voting for the these morons are part of the problem.
