Fall River man arrested by Rehoboth Police after reportedly driving erratically

A Fall River man was arrested Thursday by Rehoboth Police after reportedly being an erratic driver.

According to Sgt. James Casey, at approximately 3:27 p.m., the Rehoboth Police Department received a report of a black Jeep Cherokee with a Massachusetts registration being operated erratically on Winthrop Street (Route 44).

A witness stated the vehicle made a right turn onto Blanding Road and almost struck a curb. Chief James Trombetta located the vehicle after it turned onto Summer Street from Blanding Road and initiated the stop of the vehicle.

The operator of the vehicle was identified as 34-year-old Jordan Correia of Fall River.

As Chief Trombetta spoke with Correia, he observed he had signs and symptoms of intoxication due to the consumption of alcohol. Sgt. Thomas Ranley, Ptlm. Jeffrey Perry, and Ptlm. Terrence Hedrick responded to the scene.

After a brief roadside investigation, Correia was taken into custody without incident and was transported to the station where he was booked.

Correia was released on personal recognizance and is due to appear in Taunton District Court on Friday.

Correia was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicating liquor; 2nd offense, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation.
