Fall River Police arrested a city man after a gun, drugs, and almost $40,000 found.

On Friday, October 16, 2020, Detective Matthew Mendes was assigned to the Gang/Vice and Intelligence Unit Task Force. Detective Mendes and other members of the Southeastern Massachusetts FBI Gang Task Force conducted an investigation that ultimately led to the service of a search warrant for 224 Kennedy Street as-well-as 47 Prospect Street (Apt 3).

Members of the Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit, Southeastern Massachusetts Gang Task Force, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) assisted in the service of the search warrants.

According to Lieutenant Jay Huard, at 7:10 a.m., a search was conducted of 224 Kennedy Street. Officers located a shoebox on the floor in an upstairs bedroom that contained $9,330.00.

Located in the same shoebox were small multi-colored elastics used for packaging drugs, a black digital scale, and a large open bag containing five vacuum sealed bags. The bags contained marijuana (1 pound each), clear knotted plastic bag containing 8.2 ounces of marijuana, and 30 commercial packages containing marijuana (3.5 each) packaged for street level sales and distribution which totaled 5.7 pounds of marijuana.

While searching a separate bedroom of the same home, Officers located another shoebox containing $30,452. During a search of the garage, Officers located a stun gun (black handheld electric conducted weapon) inside of a baby carriage at the rear of the garage.

A further search of the garage revealed a plastic bag containing 45 caliber ammunition, a white knit ski mask, and a purple shoebox. Upon further inspection of the shoebox, Officers located a black .22 revolver wrapped in a white t-shirt, a plastic bag containing 32, N.F.C.R. 45 rounds of ammunition, and a white ski
mask.

At the conclusion of the investigation, all of the evidence was seized and turned into the evidence custodian. In conjunction with this investigation, the $39,782.00 was seized as the proceeds of illegal drug sales and logged in as evidence and held for subsequent forfeiture proceedings.

Kevin Nunes, 20, of Kennedy Street was charged with Possession To Distribute Marijuana, a Class D drug, Unlawful Possession of a Stun-Gun, Possess Non-Large Capacity Firearm In Home, Possess Ammunition Without FID Card, and Possess Ammunition Without FID Card.
