Fall River man accused of domestic violence, witness intimidation
According to Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, a 28-year-old Fall River man who is accused of following an alleged domestic violence victim out of court and then assaulting her outside of the SRTA Bus Station in Fall River was held without bail for up to 180 days after being found dangerous after a recent Fall River Superior Court Dangerousness Hearing, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced.
Jesse Jean was indicted early this month on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a family or household member, assault and battery-serious bodily injury and witness intimidation.
On May 11, the alleged victim was in court for another case involving the defendant where she is the alleged victim. After the hearing, the defendant allegedly yelled at her in the hallway of the courthouse, calling her a rat. He is then accused of following her out of the building and assaulting her in front of witnesses at the SRTA bus station. When police arrived at the scene of the alleged assault, they found the victim to be suffering from multiple bruises and contusions and was visibly upset. She was taken to a nearby hospital and was treated for a hairline fracture to her jaw.
The dangerousness hearing was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Kyle McPherson and the dangerousness finding was ruled on by Judge Thomas McGuire. The dangerousness finding in Superior Court means the defendant will be held without bail for up to 180 days while the case proceeds to trial.
The defendant is due back in court for a pretrial hearing on this matter on August 8th.
“I am pleased this defendant was found a danger and held without bail,” District Attorney Quinn said. “The allegations in this case are very disturbing, and support the court’s finding that the defendant is a danger to the community.”
