Fall River, MA man bicycling 1300 miles from Illinois for charity after losing father, grandfather, friend

A Fall River man is taking on a major challenge to help the Pan Mass Challenge.

Ronald Bauer began his trek on Monday to bike from Rock Island, Illinois, where he is originally from, to Fall River, Massachusetts where he currently resides.

While Bauer’s trip may be a difficult one, he has his reasons and motivations.

“Because of losing my father, grandfather and great family friend Tracey Ott to cancer, the Pan Mass Challenge has been, for the past 13 years, a way for me to help find a cure in their memory. The PMC gives 100% of every dollar donated to Dana Farber Cancer Institute. This gives me hope that one day a cure will be found, and no other loved one’s battle will be lost.

Bauer is hoping that his feat will raise as much money as possible for the PMC and Dana Farber.

“I will be riding 100 miles for every year that I have been involved with PMC, in honor of those that are fighting this disease and in memory of those that were lost. I will be riding 1300 miles, self-supported.”
