Fall River issues $24,000 in parking tickets to drivers who did not follow parking ban
The storm that started Friday morning brought 5-6 inches of snow and hundreds of parking tickets due to vehicle owners not following an issued parking ban, according to police.
During Fall River’s parking ban, which was issued by Mayor Paul Coogan and began at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and ended at 5:00 p.m. Friday morning, 600 parking tickets were issued which totaled $24,000 in fines.
According to FRPD, no vehicles were towed due to the parking ban.
The $40 fine per violation were issued by police for disrupting DCM during the storm with the parking ban in place.
Parking had been made available by the City prior to the storm at the following locations:
o Flint Municipal Parking Lot on Cash Street
o Municipal Parking Lot on Columbia Street
o Talbot Middle School on Melrose Street
o Morton Middle School Parking Lot on Hood Street
