Today, members of the Fall River Police Department, along with Chief Cardoza and Father Rob Nemkovich, held a groceries for guns buyback at Blessed Trinity Parish in memory of Dr. Robert Lawrence.

The program offered grocery gift cards for guns – no questions asked.

Anyone returning a shotgun or long gun received a $50 gift card. Handguns returned received a $75 gift card.

The event is done, in part, to remember Rev. Dr. Robert Lawrence who was an important part of the gun buyback program until his passing on October 2nd in 2018.

Dr. Lawrence’s widow was able to participate in the cause in memory of her late husband.

In total, 28 guns and assorted ammunition were turned in by members of the community.

These are not the guns that are used in the horrible crimes committed in the community.

If the community were serious about shutting down gun crime perhaps we should back up and enforce the Bartley Fox act that was passed in the 70’s.

Get caught with a firearm without credentials and go to jail for a year.

How many are serving time under this law?

Love to hear the follow up on this!!!!
