Fall River Fire Department responds to vehicle in the water at Cook Pond
The Fall River Fire Department responded to two water rescue calls within hours of each other.
According to the IAFF L-1314 Fall River Firefighters Union, at approximately 6:00 a.m. Sunday morning, members from Engine 5, Ladder 2, Fall River Fire Dept. Rescue 1, Car 3 and the Dive Truck responded to the Henry Street Boat Ramp at Cook Pond for a vehicle in the water.
A member of FRFD donned his dive suit and SCUBA tank and went into the water on a tag line because this came in as a water rescue, with a person possibly trapped.
Fortunately, there was nobody in the truck and it appeared to be abandoned.
Members stayed on scene to help the tow company remove the vehicle and cleared in service for the next call.
It was the second water rescue call for the Fall River Fire Department in less than 12 hours. Fall River responders made a rescue last evening as a boat overturned in the Taunton River
