Fall River Fire Department responds to handful of fires on Thanksgiving
The Fall River Fire Department has been very busy on Thanksgiving, typically the busiest day for firefighters across the country.
Just before 4:00 p.m., a call came into dispatch for fire in the walls that spread at 183 Lowell Street, a three-story residential building.
Upon arrival, crews found flames shooting out of the windows on the third floor.
Heavy damage took place on the third floor leaving residents displaced on Thanksgiving.
As of 4:30 p.m., personnel were still on scene. The fire has since been extinguished.
Power was also shut off in the building.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
In addition to the Lowell Street fire, Fall River firefighters responded to a handful of oven fires this afternoon and the day is not over.
