Fall River Fire Department issues update concerning blaze where son went into home to rescue mother leaving both burned

Two family members were injured after a late-night fire in Fall River.

According to Fire Chief Jeffrey Bacon, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Fall River Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 126 Brown St. in the south end of the city.

Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire from the first floor of the 2-story structure. They also had a report of 2 burn victims. A 59-year-old woman with minor burns to her head and her 39-year-old son who had more serious burns all over his body from going in to rescue her prior to the arrival of the fire department.  Both victims were transported by Fall River EMS to RI Hospital.

Bacon stated that the fire was knocked down quickly, however, the damage was significant enough that the family will be displaced.

Investigators were on scene for most of the night and their origin and cause investigation is ongoing.

    I always cook bacon in microwave

      That was the chiefs name not the cause of the fire.
