Fall River Fire Department extinguishes heavy fire at city residence

The Fall River Fire Department responded to a fire at a home on Easter Sunday.

Just before 11:00 a.m. a call came into dispatch for flames in the rear of a home at 100 Hancock in the area of the A/C unit.

Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire showing and quickly knocked it down and protected exposures.

According to the Fall River Firefighter Union, Engine 4, Engine 5, Engine 9, Ladder 2 and Ladder 4A, Heavy Rescue 1, and Car 3, responded to the scene.

A neighbor stated that he arrived at the door of the home yelling if anyone was home and noted that no cars were in the driveway. He also stated that the family has a pet dog.

The fire is under investigation.
