The Fall River Fire Department extinguished the second major fire in as many days on Sunday.

According to the Firefighter Union, at just before 5:15 a.m., Fall River Firefighters responded to a reported structure fire at 464 Division Street with reports of occupants trapped.

Upon arrival, crews found fire on the exterior of the building involving electrical wiring, extending from the ground to the roof eaves. A 1¾-inch handline was quickly deployed, and the fire was brought under control in approximately 5 minutes.

Firefighters, working alongside the Fall River Police Department, safely removed multiple occupants from the building and completed primary searches of all six apartments, confirming everyone was out safely.

The Union noted that the addition of a fourth firefighter on both Ladder 2 and Ladder 4 helped crews complete those primary searches even more quickly.

Crews then checked for any hidden fire, completed overhaul, and secured the gas and electrical utilities.

Six residents were displaced as a result of the fire.

Responding apparatus included Engine 2, Engine 4, Engine 5, Engine 9, Ladder 2, Ladder 4, Heavy Rescue 1, Car 2, and Car 3.

Thankfully, no civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.

On Saturday, the Fall River Fire Department extinguished a blaze above a city business.
