Fall River Fire Department battles heavy flames at late night residential blaze

A late-night blaze in Fall River caused serious damage to a home.

A call came into dispatch just before 11:15 p.m. for a fire to a single-family home at 20 Rosedale Street with flames showing from the attic.

According to Fire Chief Roger St. Martin, upon arrival, crews encountered heavy fire on the outside rear of the home in addition to the attic and second floor.

3 engines, 2 ladders, and 1 heavy rescue responded to the scene under the command of District Chief Costa. Fall River Fire Special Service – EMA also arrived and provided lighting and other services.

It was initially believed that the homeowner was still inside the home at the time of the blaze, however, crews located him outside of the residence.

The fire was extinguished in approximately a half hour.

No injuries were reported.

St. Martin stated that there was severe damage to the attic, 2nd floor, and rear of the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
