A Fall River father and son accused of shooting two women pled guilty Friday in Fall River Superior Court.

According to Captain Daniel Dube, at approximately 9:30 p.m. on July 7th, 2020, patrol units responded to the Bradford Avenue side of Kennedy Park regarding a female with a gunshot wound to the head.

Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle with a mother and daughter. The operator had a gunshot wound to the left side of her head and the passenger had gunshot wounds to both her legs.

The operator was transported to Rhode Island Hospital. The passenger was transported to St. Anne’s Hospital.

Both females were listed in stable condition and survived.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Division responded to the scene and began an investigation. The investigation revealed the shooting took place in front of the suspect’s Mulberry Street home.

Located at the scene were 2 suspects who were subsequently placed under arrest. Additionally, 14 shell casings were located in front of the Mulberry Street location. Major Crimes Detectives are continuing the investigation.

Father and son, Joshua Burgos and Elvis Burgos, were indicted on several charges including Armed Assault with intent to murder.

Court records revealed on Friday that Joshua Burgos pled guilty and was sentenced to not less than 10 years to not more than 13 years with 1711 days already served. Elvis Burgos pled guilty and was sentenced to not less than 8 years to not more than 10 years with 1454 days already served.

According to the Herald News, the daughter told police that Joshua Burgos had threatened her and there was a dispute with the mother and daughter’s relative earlier in the day before the shooting.

Family members of the suspects believe that the victims came to the house to hurt the family, and Elvis came out to defend his son.
