Fall River COVID-19 case count nears 11,600 on last daily report

Fall River saw more cases of COVID-19 announced on Thursday.

According to the Mayor’s Office, 11,591 total cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Fall River, a 37 case increase reported since Wednesday.

The Fall River Health Department is in contact with the individuals who have tested positive as well as their contacts.

Deaths in Fall River contributed to COVID-19 remains at 291. 2 deaths were announced on Wednesday. On Tuesday, 2 deaths were reported. 3 deaths were announced on Friday. 1 new death was announced on Thursday. 3 new deaths were reported on Wednesday. 2 new deaths were reported on the following Tuesday. 4 more deaths were announced on the previous Monday. 1 new death was announced the previous Friday.

77 more COVID-19 cases were revealed on Friday. 156 total cases were announced for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. On Tuesday, 152 new cases were announced, 50 of which were tests processed between 1/23 and 2/1 that were not reported earlier due to a technical issue with the state reporting system. 98 cases were reported on Wednesday.

The Mayor’s Office states that “due to the downward trend of COVID-19 cases in Fall River and the heightened focus on vaccination efforts, the City of Fall River will now be providing weekly COVID-19 statistics every Thursday. This will also compliment the State of Massachusetts’ Weekly COVID-19 Public Health report, which is released every Thursday.”
