Fall River armed robbery victims chase and catch suspect
Fall River Police, with some help from citizens, charge a Fall River man with a Friday night armed robbery.
According to Sergeant J.T. Hoar, on Friday December 21st at approximately 10:30 p.m., Fall River Police were dispatched to the area of the traffic rotary at North Main Street and Airport Road. Officer Tyler Paquette responded and observed a male, later identified as Quincy Sears, 25, of 51G Rolling Green Drive, being held down on the ground by three other males.
After quickly speaking with the males, it was determined they were victims of an armed robbery that was committed by Sears. Officer Paquette detained Sears and further investigated. It was determined that several minutes earlier, the males were outside of Royal Pizza located at 4263 North Main Street when they were approached by Sears who was wearing dark clothing, a ski mask, and gloves. Sears pointed a handgun at them and demanded one of the victims “give him all of his money”. One of the males attempted to use their phone to call 911 and Sears threatened to shoot all three of them. After obtaining cash from one of the males, Sears began running north toward the rotary.
The victims began chasing Sears by following him in their motor vehicle. Eventually they were able to catch up with him at the rotary area and were able to subdue him while calling for police assistance. Officers were able to locate a replica handgun BB-Gun in the vicinity of where Sears was captured. Sears was still wearing the black ski mask and gloves at the time of his apprehension. The mask and gloves along with the associated clothing were seized as evidence.
Officer Paquette attempted to speak with Sears regarding his side of the incident, but it was apparent that his account of the incident was far different than that of the three victims. Officer Paquette found it very peculiar that Sears was wearing a black ski mask and gloves on a very mild winter night and Sears had a very poor explanation of what he was doing prior to being captured. At this time, Sears was informed he was under arrest. Sears had suffered injuries during the scuffle and was transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
Quincy Sears was charged with the following:
• Armed Robbery while Masked
• 3 Counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
• Intimidation of a Witness
