Fall River area community continues to support each other during tough times

People in the Fall River area continue to step up during tough times.

Atlantis Charter School donated its supply of masks, gloves and medical-grade wipes to Southcoast Health.

In a letter to school staff on Monday, District Leader Gabriela Birmingham wrote, “Atlantis is proud to be able to support, in this small way, the brave healthcare workers (many of which are our own parents) on the front lines dealing with this healthcare crisis.”

Birmingham says the hospitals were incredibly grateful for the donations.

The Fall River Police Department’s School Resource Officers continue to check on students who are stuck at home. They delivered lunches provided by the School Department along with a goody bag with items bought by the SROs themselves. Squad Buddies provided a beanie baby or stuffed animal to include in the trinket bag.

Carla made a drop off to help make sure that Fall River responders have enough PPE.

“Great feeling after I donated 20 boxes of gloves throughout the city: Honey Dew Donuts, Fall River PD, Eastern Ave Fire Department, Plymouth Ave Fire Department just to name a few…. I got the smiles I wanted.”

The Fall River Police Department was thankful for receiving some free pizzas.

“THANK YOU! A special thank you to Cousin Mike’s Pizza for their donation of pizzas to the police department, St Anne’s Hospital and Charlton Memorial Hospital. We appreciate your support!”

Finally, Sandy Thomas spotted a neighbor in Somerset putting out various items for those in need when some products are currently tough to come by.

“This is one of the many reasons we love our neighborhood. This table was set out by one of our neighbors Kristina Marchand. What an awesome idea!”
