Fall River announces 3 more deaths, spike in reported COVID-19 cases

Fall River has seen more positive cases of COVID-19 in Sunday’s report.

39 additional cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Fall River, according to the Mayor’s Office. This brings the total in Fall River to 1,474.

Mayor Coogan stated that the uptick was due to a spike in nursing home cases.

The Fall River Health Department is in contact with the individuals who have tested positive as well as their contacts.

The death toll from the coronavirus in Fall River increased to 76 as the City saw 3 additional fatalities.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health started Monday reporting both confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases and deaths dating back to March 1, 2020.

Friday revealed 28 COVID-19 cases. In Saturday’s report, 14 additional cases were announced. On Sunday, 13 more cases were revealed. Monday’s report added only 3 additional cases. 15 cases were announced on Tuesday. On Wednesday, 10 more cases were announced.

Governor Charlie Baker signed an executive order on May 1, 2020 requiring face coverings in public places where social distancing is not possible. This order is effective May 6, 2020 and will remain in effect until rescinded or until the emergency is terminated.
