On Tuesday, March 24, 2020, the Massachusetts Department of Health (DPH) notified the Fairhaven Board of Health that a Fairhaven resident tested positive for COVID-19.

The individual is currently quarantined and is being monitored daily by the town’s Public Nurse who continues to follow all recommended guidance from DPH as well as the recommended protocols from the Center for Disease Control (CDC).

The Board of Health asks that every resident does their part in mitigating the spread of the virus by adhering to orders from the Governor as well as continuing to practice social distancing, good personal hygiene and staying informed on the situation.

Fairhaven encourages residents to:

-Stay home. Restrict you and your family from social interactions. Wash your hands often using soap, water and paper towels.
-Quarantine (separate) yourself or family members if you are feeling ill or have flu like symptoms. Restrict interactions with immune compromised, chronically Ill and elderly people.
-Contact your Primary care physician by phone if you are feeling flu-like symptoms. They will provide further instructions.
-Contain your sneezes and coughs, use disposable tissues and dispose of used items in a covered trash receptacle if possible.
-Clean and Sanitize all horizontal and touch surfaces such as door knobs, countertops, bathrooms etc.
