Fall River – Durfee High School officials have begun investigating an incident that took place on school grounds.

According to a voice message sent to parents of students at the school, at 11:39 a.m. on Tuesday, a student hacked into a video messaging panel on the first-floor cafeteria during lunch. The student was able to show pornographic images for a few seconds before the panel was disabled.

The message went on to say that the school is in the process of determining the student who is responsible and once revealed, the student will face school discipline and possible criminal charges.

Responses from the public concerning the incident have been mixed.

One woman felt that what occurred wasn’t much of a deal.

“The kids thought it was hilarious. Literally a prank with no violence or vandalism, you know like kids have been doing for decades.”

Another woman in particular took exception to the point of view that it was harmless.

“There are many issues. Let’s start with the lesser issue of hacking into the TVs of the cafeteria. The taxpayers paid a lot of money for the kids to have 2 fabulous cafeterias with all the bells and whistles. Hacking the technology is absolutely unacceptable. Now let’s move on the really big issue….showing pornography to a huge room full of minor children is an egregious act and should be punished to the full extent of the law. It’s not funny it’s criminal. YOU might think it’s a prank but I am sure other parents are appalled and extremely upset. I know for a fact that the content that was shown was far more than just inappropriate, it was hard core. The person or persons who did this need to be expelled and charged criminally. This type of charge could land the culprits on the sex offender registry. I teach high school students and we have to be very careful which books we read and videos we show in class, we are very conscious of things that might offend students. Parents get upset when their child is exposed to foul language in some of the greatest American classics and you think they are ok with their kids watching porn during lunch? Another issue is, this caused a disruption in the school day. Many resources are going to be spent tracking who did this, another waste of time and money.”

We contacted Durfee High School Principal Matthew Desmarais regarding what took place and have not received a response as of this writing.

With all the content shown at home on TV? Cable in this day in age I’m sure it’s nothing they haven’t seen in their own living room already ….

No porn in my home (and never will be) and there shouldn’t be porn in any home with minor children. Going easy on the culprit will only reinforce that this kind of action and behavior is no big deal – and it is. Charges pressed now will hopefully steer the kid away from further and perhaps even worse deviant or criminal behavior as the kid moves into early adulthood in just a few short years. This is appalling and unacceptable behavior in a civilized society, and especially in a school with children. Hold the kid accountable for his extremely poor judgement and behavior.

“One woman felt that what occurred wasn’t much of a deal.” She probably felt that way because that’s something her son would do.

A bunch of Karen’s on this page. It is the 21 first century, kids have adult videos at there finger tips. Furthermore ,if people are going as far as pressing charges and putting a child on a sex offenders list and ruining there life’s for a simple joke. Than you do not belong being parents. It is hard to believe that everyone is completely innocent and never did something regret.
