Durfee High School will be taking measures after a new threat to the school.

School Principal Matthew Desmarias issued a statement late Tuesday morning.

“We have been notified of a post on social media warning the Durfee community of a gun threat to the school this coming Thursday, December 16th. The Fall River Police Department is working to identify the individual who posted this information. As the FRPD continues to investigate, out of an abundance of caution we will conduct bag checks, employ metal detectors, and have an increased police presence on campus tomorrow. Our primary mission is the safety and security of our students and staff. We are asking all families to monitor the items their students bring to school and report any information of concern to school administration or the Fall River Police Department.”

In late November, a threatening post was circulating from Instagram toward the school

In mid-November, a juvenile was arrested concerning a gun that was in a backpack inside a car of a Durfee student.
