Driver crashes in Swansea after fleeing from police
Police have made an arrest after a chase led to a crash in Swansea.
According to Lieutenant Marc Haslam, early this morning at approximately 12:30 a.m., Warren Rhode Island Police notified Swansea Police of a motor vehicle pursuit into Swansea on School House Road.
The pursuit originated in Bristol, RI after the vehicle was stopped by Bristol Police and fled the scene of the stop. Warren Police began to pursue once the vehicle entered their jurisdiction.
A short time later, Swansea was notified that the vehicle being pursued, a Silver Subaru, had crashed in the area of 52 Old Warren Road.
An ambulance was requested and Police and Ambulance were dispatched.
Upon arrival, a vehicle was located, overturned in the front yard of 52 Old Warren Road. The vehicle had
apparently been travelling east on Old Warren Road when it left the roadway, struck a parked vehicle and overturned.
The operator sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported by Swansea Ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital.
The crash remains under investigation and charges will be forthcoming according to police.
