According to Deputy Chief Barden Castro, officers responded to Malvey Street off of North Main Street at approximately 9:15 p.m. for a person who had been struck by a vehicle.
Two women, 39 and 41 years of age, were sitting in chairs on the sidewalk when a 43-year-old male neighbor was attempting to park his vehicle when it suddenly accelerated, jumped the curb, and struck both women.
Both women were transported to Rhode Island Hospital due to their injuries but are expected to recover.
Due to the investigation thus far, the male operator was cited and will be summoned to court for Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
The Fall River Police Department’s accident reconstruction section responded and will be following-up on the investigation.
