Grieving families are heartbroken after a vandal or vandals struck at a local cemetery earlier this week.

According to Michael Carrier, dozens of gravestones at a cemetery in East Freetown were damaged with red spray paint.

The vandalism took place on Tuesday night at White Cemetery where stones were marked with swastikas and messages such as ha ha. Faces of loved ones were also spray painted over. The cemetery is located on Deer Ridge Road off of Keene Road.

Carrier said that his son Devin Carrier’s bench was among them. Devin died at 21-years-old in a fatal crash in Lakeville in 2016. Michael’s mother’s grave was also spray painted.

If you have any information on the suspect or suspects involved in the vandalism, contact Freetown Police (508) 763-4017.

There is no excuse other than stupidity for this comment made above by a reader. It is totally irresponsible and I would’ve hoped that this person’s parents had taught them better lessons than that, whoever he or she may be.
