Downpours, thunderstorms possible as area issued High Surf Advisory
Have outdoor plans for this afternoon and evening?
According to the National Weather Service, it won’t be a washout for MA, RI and CT as it won’t be raining every hour of the day, but when it does, brief heavy downpours are possible. Here is an hourly rainfall animation (not to be exact) beginning at noon to 8 pm. Darker green=heavy rain
The National Weather Service has also issued a High Surf Advisory as large breaking waves of 5 to 6 feet are expected.
The advisory involves Southern Bristol MA, Nantucket MA and Dukes MA Counties, Block Island RI, Newport RI, and Washington RI Counties until 8:00 p.m.
Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion are expected.
Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions.
