District Attorney identifies victim, releases more details, after apparent drowning on Long Pond
BROCKTON – A woman whose body was found in Long Pond in Lakeville has been identified, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz has announced.
At approximately 5:45 p.m. yesterday, Freetown police received a 911 call from a person who stated that they had been boating on Long Pond in Lakeville and saw people riding on two jet skis. The caller reported that they saw a jet ski with two female riders tip over, and one of the riders did not resurface from the water.
Massachusetts State Police, Lakeville Police, Freetown Police and the Environmental Police responded to the scene and could not locate the victim.
At approximately 12:40 a.m. today, the body of the victim was located by the SEMLEC Marine Unit, roughly 125 yards from shore in five feet of water.
The female was identified as 25-year-old Daisha Murphy of Brockton.
Murphy was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
