Dighton woman arrested on felony warrant, attempt to hit officers with car

Dighton Police arrested a woman wanted on a warrant and will now have new charges added to her record.

According to Dighton Police, late last week, Ptlm. Barros took a report of a felony assault and battery committed in a domestic situation the week prior. With the information and statement provided by the victim, a warrant was subsequently applied for and granted for the arrest of Heather LePage, 45, of 3147 Sharp’s Lot Rd. Dighton.

Through steady police work and follow-up, Ptlm. Barros was able to locate the female party this morning. Together with Det. Ryan Richards and Sgt. David McGuirk, they arrived at the address where they believed LePage to be. As they got closer to the property, they saw a car coming down the driveway being operated by a female. They recognized that operator to be LePage and ordered her to stop. She did not and, instead, accelerated towards Ptlm. Barros and Det. Richards in an attempt to strike them with her car. Ptlm. Barros was able to side-step the moving car and Det. Richards used his hand to deflect a direct impact to his body.

A short pursuit then ensued for approximately 1/4 mile down the street where LePage was taken into custody. Thankfully, no officers were injured during the incident and it serves as a reminder that things can change in a second in the performance of their duties.

Along with the existing felony warrant charges, additional charges will be brought against LePage for her actions this morning. She will be arraigned in Taunton District Court later today.
