Detours, details, released concerning work on South Coast Rail to Christmas

MassDOT has issued the upcoming schedule for work on South Coast Rail.

Fall River: Detour for Bridge Work at Pearce Street
Location of work: Demolition and replacement of railroad bridge at Pearce Street, Fall River

Dates/Hours of Work: •Road closure/detour of Pearce Street (at Dyer Street) Monday, December 13 to Friday, December 17, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM •Closure/detour continues Monday, December 20 to Friday, December 24, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM

All through traffic will be routed to North Main Street, President Avenue and Davol Street. Police details will allow local traffic access only on Pearce Street.

Taunton: 24-Hours/Day Work
Location of work: Track work in railroad right-of-way behind Mozzone Boulevard in Taunton and north of Route 24 in Taunton

Dates/Hours of Work: 24-hours/day Friday, December 17 to Sunday, December 19

Residents along Debra Drive may notice activity at the East Taunton station site.

Lakeville: 24-Hours/Day Work
Location of work: Drill shaft work (for support wall) in railroad right-of-way between Bedford Street and Leonard Street in Lakeville

Dates/Hours of Work: 24-hours/day Friday, December 17 to Sunday, December 19

New Bedford Station Site: 24-Hours/Day Sewer Work
Location of work: Sewer casing installations at the New Bedford Station Site, 536 Acushnet Avenue, New Bedford

Dates/Hours of Work: 24-hours/day Thursday, December 16 to Tuesday, December 21

Daytime Work on Middleborough Secondary and New Bedford Main Line
Location of work: •New Middleborough Station site, 161 South Main Street, Middleborough •East Taunton Station site, 1141 County Street, Taunton •Wamsutta Layover Facility site, 217 Herman Melville Boulevard, New Bedford •Church Street Station site, 387 Church Street, New Bedford •New Bedford Station Site, 536 Acushnet Avenue, New Bedford •Middleborough Secondary and New Bedford Main Line right-of-way

Dates/Hours of Work: •Monday, December 13 through Sunday, December 19, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM •Monday, December 20 through Thursday, December 23, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Construction is ongoing at station and layover sites and along the railroad right-of-way from Middleborough to New Bedford.

Daytime Work on Fall River Secondary Line
Location of work: •Adams Lane, Berkley •Richmond Road to Forge Road, Assonet •Freetown Station site, 161 South Main Street, Assonet •Collins Street, Fall River •Weaver’s Cove Layover Facility, 2680 North Main Street, Fall River •Fall River Depot site, 825 Davol Street, Fall River •Fall River Secondary Line railroad right-of-way

Dates/Hours of Work: •Monday, December 13 through Friday, December 17, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM •Monday, December 20 through Friday, December 24, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Construction is ongoing at station and layover sites and along the railroad right-of-way from Berkley to Fall River.

Berkley: Railroad Access at Cotley Street
Location of work: Cotley Street in Berkley

Dates/Hours of Work: Please note that the contractor will be using Cotley Street to access the ROW for various work activities, this is primarily used during the daytime (7:00 AM-7:00 PM) but will also be used 24-hours/day during some activities.

Overnight Transportation of Soils to Middleborough, East Taunton, Weaver’s Cove Sites
Please note that soils excavated from the railroad right-of-way during the above work may be transported overnight by truck to designated project sites in Middleborough, Taunton and Fall River where the soils will be stockpiled and spread.

Location of work: •New Middleborough Station site, 161 South Main Street, Middleborough •East Taunton Station site, 1141 County Street, Taunton •Weaver’s Cove Layover Facility, 2680 North Main Street, Fall River

Dates/Hours of Work: Overnight as necessary, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
