Department of Children, Youth & Families reports death of 7-month-old infant
Providence, R.I. — The Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF) is disclosing the fatality of a seven-month-old infant.
According to DCYF, the Department was open to the family at the time of the incident, however, DCYF did not have custody of the child at the time of the death.
The fatality occurred on June 2, 2023.
At this time the fatality does not appear to be the result of child maltreatment. DCYF has notified the Office of the Child Advocate of this report.
Due to confidentiality laws, DCYF did not release more details.
Rhode Islanders are required by law to report known or suspected cases of child abuse or neglect to DCYF within 24 hours of becoming aware of such abuse/neglect. Please call 1-800-RI-CHILD to report known or suspected cases of child abuse.
