DCYF investigating after 15-year-old girl dies after taking drugs; man arrested
The Department of Children, Youth & Families is disclosing the fatality of a 15-year-old youth.
The Department was involved with the family at the time of the death as the teen was living with foster family members in Providence when she reportedly left the home without permission.
The incident occurred on April 3, 2023, and the Department has initiated an investigation.
Local police departments are also investigating. DCYF has notified the Office of the Child Advocate and the Family Court of the report.
According to WJAR 10, Juan Pizzaro of Providence was arrested earlier this week and is accused of supplying drugs to the teen at the Motel 6 in Warwick before she passed away.
Due to confidentiality laws, DCYF is prohibited from sharing additional information.
