A Dartmouth man was arrested this past weekend after hitting multiple cars and assaulting a passenger.

According to Portsmouth Police, on August 26th at approximately 6:12 p.m., Officers were alerted to be on the lookout for a black Chevrolet Silverado, that was just involved in a hit and run to a vehicle on West Main Road near Raytheon. According to witnesses, a truck sideswiped another vehicle on West Main Road and continued north bound operating erratically and at high speeds.

It was later learned through an investigation that the suspect identified as David Correia of Dartmouth had assaulted a 27 year old female who was in the passenger seat. The vehicle continued north onto the Sakonnet Bridge at which time the truck rear-ended another vehicle. Upon officers arrival, Correia displayed obvious signs of intoxication, failed sobriety tests, and was taken into custody.
