Dartmouth man, doctor, indicted for allegedly paying Attleboro boy for sex

A local doctor, who was arrested on charges involving paying a 14 year old Attleboro boy for sex, has been indicted.

According to The Sun Chronicle, 37-year-old Sujan Kayastha has been indicted by a Bristol County grand jury.

Through exhaustive investigative measures, including the execution of multiple search warrants on mobile devices and numerous social media accounts, Attleboro police state that Kayastha had engaged in lengthy, sexually explicit communications with the juvenile victim. This communication with the victim included the transmission of images of child pornography. Kayastha then offered drugs, money, and alcohol to the juvenile, and made arrangements to meet with the victim and transport him to a hotel in Seekonk for the purposes of engaging in a sexual encounter.

Kayastha, a married doctor from Dartmouth, had his bail decreased from $75,000 to $15,000 by Fall River Superior Court Judge Thomas McGuire earlier this year. He must stay away from the alleged victim, along with anyone under 16, without supervision. Kayastha had his medical license suspended and he had to surrender his passport. Kayastha has no GPS or curfew and was released from his job at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford.

Kayastha was booked in April on:

Possession of child pornography
Disseminating obscene matter to a minor (two counts)
Electronic enticement of a child for prostitution (two counts)
Trafficking of a person for sexual servitude

Upon being interviewed by investigators, Kayastha made admissions and incriminating statements according to police.

Kayastha pleaded not guilty at his arrest and plans to fight the charges.
