Plymouth MA – Tragedy struck a southeastern Massachusetts family just before Christmas.

According to a GoFundMe fundraiser organized for the family and a social media post by the mother, in the early morning hours of Christmas Eve 2023, the Phillips family found themselves in the grips of every parent’s worst nightmare.

Ashton, who just came into this world in September, left it so quickly due to Tracheomalacia, according to family.

“Ashton was the light of his family’s life. He brought so much joy to his parents, siblings, family and anyone who had the great honor of meeting him. Ashton Klein has left an imprint we will never forget and cherish forever.”

According to Boston Children’s Hospital, “Tracheomalacia is the collapse of the airway when breathing. This means that when (a) child exhales, the trachea narrows or collapses so much that it may feel hard to breathe. This may lead to a vibrating noise or cough.”

The family has understandably asked for privacy.

“Our hearts are so heavy and hallow we have no words. Please allow us to grieve in peace.”
