Community coming together to help injured Fall River family who lost everything in fire

The employer of a Fall River man seriously injured rescuing his mother is among those coming to the aid of a family who lost everything.

According to Fire Chief Jeffrey Bacon, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Fall River Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 126 Brown St. in the south end of the city.

Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire from the first floor of the 2-story structure. They also had a report of 2 burn victims. A 59-year-old woman with minor burns to her head and her 39-year-old son who had more serious burns all over his body from going in to rescue her prior to the arrival of the fire department.  Both victims were transported by Fall River EMS to RI Hospital.

According to CEO at Marzilli Machine Co Lee Anne Marzilli the son is an employee, Josh Peters, who is currently in the intensive care unit undergoing treatment.

A GoFundMe fundraiser was created to help Josh and his mom purchase new furniture, clothing, and other necessities as well as funds to secure new housing. Josh could also use help with medical expenses and lost wages recovery.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
