Comcast to institute several price increases in January
January will bring Comcast price increases for some customers nationwide.
According to Ars Technica, Comcast is adding up to $4.50 a month to their “Broadcast TV” fee. $2 will also be added to the Regional Sports Network fee for local sports programming. Monthly rates will also be increasing.
New customers on a promotional rate will be spared the monthly rate increases until the promotion expires, however, they will not be immune from the hike in the TV and RSN fees.
Internet only packages will also be increasing.
Six Internet-only packages that cost $53 to $113 a month will all be increasing their price by $3 a month. Installations and in-home service visits are increasing by $30 dollars to $100.
The fee for a primary TV box will be increasing by $2.50 to $7.50. Additional box fees will decrease to $7.50.
A Comcast spokesperson defended the increases in a statement.
“Rising programming costs—most notably for broadcast TV and sports—continue to be the biggest factors driving price increases for all content distributors and their customers, not just Comcast. We’re continuing to work hard to manage these costs for our customers while investing in our network to provide the best, most reliable broadband service in the country and the flexibility to choose our industry-leading video platform with X1 or the highest quality streaming product with Flex, the only free streaming TV device with voice remote that’s included with broadband service.”
In November, Comcast announced that data caps would be coming in 2021.

City should seize all local clowncast assets. Being a monopolistic company is UNCONSTITUTIONAL and clowncast should be seized and made a public utility.
