Comcast increasing prices and fees as early as late December

With rent, food, and utility bills increasing, Comcast has announced that they are raising TV and internet prices starting as early as late December.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Xfinity cable customers will see a 3% increase in their bills nationwide, on average, after increasing prices last January.

The cable and internet company will be increasing prices and fees in several areas including equipment, broadcast television, and local sports.

Broadband plans will also see an increase.

A spokesperson for Comcast stated that “as we continue to invest in our network, products, and services, the cost of doing business rises. Rising programming costs, most notably for broadcast TV and sports, continue to be the biggest factors driving price increases. While we absorb some of these costs, these fee increases affect service pricing. As a result, starting December 20, 2021, prices for certain services and fees will be increasing, including the Broadcast TV Fee and the Regional Sports Network Fee.”

In addition to the price changes, customers subscribing to Performance Starter Internet which is no longer available for new subscriptions, will receive additional notice of a price increase of $5 a month.

Also, effective December 31, 2021, NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) will cease operations.

Prices overall vary across different markets, however, the “TV Answer Man” gave an example of what one community in New Hampshire will see.
