UPDATE: Ponte temporarily no longer running City Council meetings, letigation chosen
Before heading into executive session to discuss their next move in regards to their battle with Mayor Jasiel Correia, the City Council had a new leader running the session. Pam Laliberte-Lebeau.
The non-executive session on Wednesday began at approximately 5:15 p.m. and lasted approximately five minutes, but set a tone on the evening’s proceedings.
Due to the provision in the charter that states the President of the City Council, when becoming the acting mayor, cannot partake in the meetings of the council, resulted in Council President Cliff Ponte sitting in the audience while Vice President Laliberte-Lebeau presided.
What appears to be unclear is what duties Ponte has been performing as mayor, if any. What also remains unclear is what strategy the City Council is discussing with their representation, KP Law, in the executive session.
UPDATE: City Council has decided to proceed with litigation against Mayor Correia. A short statement was made by City Council representation which is enclosed below.
