(Fall River, MA- April 30, 2020)- On Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at 7:00pm, Fall River residents are encouraged to come together to clap, cheer and show appreciation for essential employees during the COVID-19 outbreak.

“I hope the community will join together and applaud the selfless efforts of all of our frontline workers” said Mayor Paul E. Coogan. “We need to recognize not only our hardworking healthcare workers and first responders, but all employees in our local businesses, supermarkets, pharmacies, restaurants, and more working tirelessly to help fight the coronavirus pandemic.”

Clapping and cheering can be done from windows, porches, front yards or sidewalks. Residents must practice social distancing of 6 feet or more and may not gather in groups of 10 or larger.

Fall River Government Center will be lit up in blue to support our essential workers. We ask places of worship to join this recognition by ringing their bells on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at 7:00pm.

Residents are encouraged to share their efforts on social media utilizing the hashtag #ClapBecauseWeCare
