Pickleball has exploded in popularity in the last year and Fall River will be part of the craze.

This morning, the City of Fall River officially opened the Pickleball and Tennis Court complex at Kennedy Park.

The opening included a press conference where Mayor Paul Coogan, Mike Dionne from the Community Development Agency, Nancy Smith, and members from the Parks Board spoke.

According to Mayor Coogan, people were already putting the courts to good use and enjoying some friendly matches of pickleball upon arrival.

When speaking to Mayor Coogan about the new courts, a pickleball regular mentioned that it was the nicest pickleball complex on the South Coast.

In 2021, Fall River received $400,000 in PARC grants from the Baker-Polito Administration for the project.

There will be pickleball clinics and possible tournaments in the near future.
