City of Fall River issues Cold Weather Advisory, shelter services as snow, wind chill near 0 expected
Cold Weather Advisory (FALL RIVER, MA- January 19, 2024) – On Friday, January 19th, the First Baptist Church, located at 228 North Main Street in Fall River, will open at 7:00pm through 8:00am Monday, morning, to provide overnight shelter for residents of the city.
On Monday, January 22, 2024, the Timao Center, Homeless Outreach Center, 371 Bay Street (use Middle Street entrance) will be available from 8:00am- 3:00pm. Residents may drop in without calling.
Anyone in need of assistance is urged to call the 24-hour homeless hotline number for shelter needs at 508-676-3528.
Street outreach workers from the City of Fall River will be on hand to assist with transportation needs if needed.
The First Step Inn, 134 Durfee Street, will be offering shelter services as well as the Timao Center, at the Spindle City Church 371 Bay Street (use Middle Street entrance). For shelter services at these locations call 508-679-8001.
Snow accumulations are forecast to take place during the evening commute Friday which may introduce some minor travel impacts.
