City of Fall River issues Cold Weather Advisory as arctic front sweeping across Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut

(FALL RIVER, MA- March 2, 2025) – The City of Fall River has issued a Cold Weather Advisory.

According to the National Weather Service, an arctic front will sweep across the region this afternoon and will be followed by plummeting temps and gusty northwest winds later today and this evening. Wind chills late tonight and early Sunday will fall to the single numbers near the coast and zero to -10F higher elevations.

On Sunday, March 2, 2025, the First Baptist Church, located at 228 North Main Street (Pine Street Entrance) will open at 4:00 p.m. Sunday until 8:00 a.m. Monday to provide overnight prayer services for homeless residents of the City of Fall River.

Anyone in need of assistance is urged to call the 24-hour homeless hotline for their shelter needs at 508-676-3528. Street outreach workers from the City of Fall River will be able to assist with transportation if needed.

The First Step Inn, 134 Durfee Street, will be offering shelter services as well as the Timao Center, at the Spindle City Church 371 Bay Street (use Middle Street entrance). For shelter services at these locations call 508-679-8001.
